Why don't we break the boundaries?
In recent years, it is common to notice the forlorn elderly and ethnic minorities living under the poverty line around the street corner in Hong Kong. The former could barely make a living by selling discarded papers and tin cans, while the latter could only work as cheap labor owing to language barrier. Regarding this disappointing situation, we founded Community X, which is a social enterprise project.
What is Community X
Community X allows the elderly and ethnic minorities to act as mentors and links them to interested students who wish to master traditional craftsmanship or minority languages. The elderly are able to enjoy their meaningful retired life and support their living. On the other hand, students’ understanding towards ethnic minorities could be deepened, and thus breaks the wall between locals and ethnic minorities gradually.
